Nominations are now being accepted for the Men of Middle-earth Awards!
A pairing will only become its own category if it receives at least three distinct nominations in a specific fic size written by at least two different authors. If awards are going to be presented to as wide a variety of pairings as possible, it's important that we receive a lot of nominations.
Nomination Tip: If you know of at least three ficlets (or drabbles, short fiction, etc.) in your favorite pairing that you consider to be exceptional and worthy of recognition, consider nominating all three and not just the one you like the most. That way you can almost guarantee that pairing will have its own category in that particular fic size.
You don't have to be a member to submit a story. So spread the word, find those exemplary stories and nominate, nominate, nominate!
Please note: This is a one-woman show. If you submit an incomplete nomination it is possible it won't be counted. This includes listing a URL that does not link to the specific story or not adding the word count to your nomination. To ensure your favorites are included please complete all requested information. Thank you!
Not sure of an author's e-mail? Check their profile page, send them a PM, leave a comment at the story telling them you'd like to nominate and need a way of contacting them. This makes things easier for everyone.
Not sure how to find the word count? Here's an online tool you can use.
Because comments to this post will be screened, I can't answer questions here. If you need clarification about anything, please leave a comment here or e-mail me. If I'm not able to respond immediately, please know I will get back to you within the day.
General info: RPS
General info: FPS
General info: Classic Fiction
All RPS stories completed between July 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011 are eligible for nomination. Multi-chapter fics may be started at any time but the last chapter must be posted within the stated timeframe. Crossovers are more than welcome: as long as half the pairing is from LOTR or the Hobbit the fic is eligible for nomination.
Awards will be granted to pairings and threesomes by the size of the story; the divisions are:
Drabbles (100 words)
Ficlets (101 - 1000 words)
Short Fiction (1001 - 8,000 words)
Long Fiction (8,001 and up)
A Novel length category (50K +) will be added if we receive enough nominations in a pairing to warrant this addition.
When nominating a story with multiple pairings please select the primary pair in your nomination. The story will be grouped with other fics of that pairing. If, however, all the pairs in the fic have equal billing and no one stands out as the "star," please include all pairs in your nomination and the decision of which pair should be used will be left up to the author.
More specific details of the nomination requirements and process can be found on the user info page.
The nomination period will close on April 30 at 11:59 pm EDT. You may nominate as many stories as you like. To do so, please comment to this post (comments are screened) or send an e-mail to the moderator with the following information:
